President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Achievements (2023–Date): Advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda
Since assuming office on 29th May 2023,President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has embarked on bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth, economic stability, and national development. While many of these reforms have required difficult decisions, the administration maintains that they are laying the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
Some of the key achievements of the Tinubu administration include:
1. Bold Economic Reforms.
The administration removed the fuel subsidy and unified the foreign exchange market to address long-standing distortions in the economy, improve fiscal sustainability, and encourage investment. These reforms have increased government revenues and attracted renewed investor confidence, even as they have also created short-term economic hardship for many Nigerians.
2. Increased Revenue to States FAAC allocations to federal, state, and local governments have risen significantly, providing states with more resources for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other developmental projects.
3. Infrastructure Development.
The administration has accelerated investments in roads, rail, power, and other critical infrastructure to improve connectivity, boost commerce, and stimulate economic growth across the country.
4. Education and Youth Empowerment. The introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has expanded access to higher education by providing interest-free student loans, giving thousands of Nigerian students the opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions.
5. Security Improvements.
The Federal Government has increased funding, equipment, and welfare support for security agencies while intensifying operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
6. Digital Economy and Investment Policies promoting technology, innovation, telecommunications, and foreign direct investment have strengthened Nigeria's digital economy and enhanced the country's attractiveness to investors.
7. Agriculture and Food Security .
The administration has continued to support agricultural production and food security initiatives aimed at increasing local food production, reducing imports, and empowering farmers.
